Assessment of genetic fidelity of lacy tree philodendron (Philodendron bipinnatifidum Schott ex Endl.) micro propagated plants

Tissue culture is a potent means for producing clonally propagated plants. However, genetically identical regenerants are of great concern due to their economic consequences. Therefore, polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based molecular markers employed detect somaclonal variations. In this study, the genetic fidelity in vitro raised Philodendron bipinnatifidum clones, and mother plant was tested using 11 randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers. The RAPD decamers produced 92 amplicons with 8.4 bands ranging from 260-5000 bp. varied one fifteen primer 8 7, respectively. similarity between micro plantlets P. nearly 100%, assuring uniformity true-to-type regenerated commercially crucial ornamental plant.
